The movie “Field of Dreams” came out in 1989, the same year that First United Methodist Church in Huntsville TX, launched their new building campaign. Terry D. Bilhartz (my late husband) had been selected to lead the church to bring this awe-inspiring dream to fruition. Our family of 4 went to see the movie and saw it as a prophetic call to us to chair this daunting task with fervor and gusto. In sports’ language: “Hustle.”

Now 30 years later, with Terry cheering us on from the cloud of witnesses, our son and daughter-in-love are opening this week their version of a real-life “Field of Dreams” Hustle 3 sports complex in College Station–named after Terry and one of his major life’s mantras, “Hustle, Hustle, Hustle” (AKA, Hustle 3: the business behind the sports complex).

In the last 30 years, our immediate family has grown from 4 to 12, and most of us spent Thanksgiving together in College Station. One of the 12 is now my husband of 3 years and co-owner of ChangeMasters Clinic, Dominic, who joins us in sharing the “Field of Dreams” vision and the Hustle 3 mantra. Several of the extended Bilhartz family drove down from Dallas to join us in celebrating Terry’s life and the real-life “Field of Dreams.”

We built it, and He came.

This awesome story is a tribute to what our Creator can do with committed and disciplined lives that are willing to risk something small for something bigger. This is what ChangeMasters Clinic is all about. “If we build it, He will come” is a metaphor for the human will and spirit and what we can accomplish with our Higher Power’s help, if accompanied by our willingness to change and grow.

The philosophy of ChangeMasters Clinic calls us to be willing to commit to:
